  • What a weird season this has been. It has really taken everyone through the range of emotions. Nevertheless, UTSA dropped yet another close game to an opponent with a winning record. At this point I think we know what this 2017 team is. I would have liked to see what this team without injuries would have done, but injured are a part of football and if a team can’t overcome them, then maybe you aren’t that good. This is where we are at with this team. They are an average football team that really takes it to the bad teams, but folds when facing any kind of tough opposition. Crazy to say things like this about a 5-3 team but folks, the football is bad and we can see it with our eyes.

  • UTSA was officially eliminated from CUSA West contention with yesterday’s loss. I think what plays and coaches will look back on is how they let Dalton Sturm and Marcus Davenport senior season go by the wayside. Luckily Davenport has and will continue to do enough the rest of the year to solidify his draft stock. UTSA needs to hopefully reach a Bowl game and give these guy one last chance to win a big game. Lastly, please do not give me the whole Dalton Sturm is the reason UTSA doesn’t win games shtick. UTSA would have 5 victories if it wasn’t for him. Enjoy him now because next year you will see (again) the harsh reality of not having a experienced quarterback.

  • I do not know what UTSA is going to do with this offense moving forward. They are trying to put a square peg in a round hole ever since conference play and injuries started. I understand what Wilson and Scelfo want to run and I am a big proponent of it. I love the old school power style offense. The issue is UTSA does not have the personnel to run it right now. It worked great at the start cause of the lack of injures but now it is time to adjust. The running game is struggling because the line can’t get push so naturally lets run the running backs into a brick wall??? UTSA NEEDS to adopt more spread type concepts to finish the year. The line can’t hold up? Get the ball out quicker to the receivers. I am going to contradict myself a bit here but the issue with that is UTSA’s receivers aren’t quick enough or good enough for that kind of offense. So what do you do? Find a middle ground between the two. Or maybe all this I am suggesting is not possible. My point is, UTSA cannot continue to run this same offense and expect to win their remaining games.
