  • This was pretty much best case scenario for the Roadrunners. They stepped on Southern's throat and they did not let up the entire first half. UTSA broke one or two records in the first half and it allowed them to play their young guys the rest of the game. Sturm had five total touchdowns in the first half. The defense did not allow Southern to cross the 50 yard line the entire first half.

  • UTSA hasn't had a performance like this in years. I think we all expected them to win, but I think few people had UTSA winning like this. What did we learn from this game? I think the big takeaways are that the defense is the real deal. They played against an FCS team that did not score the previous week, but man they didn't even let them cross the their own 40 yard line they majority of the first half. On offense it seems that Sturm has taken that next step we have all been waiting for. If he keeps playing like this UTSA has a legit shot at the conference title.

  • Playing the backups in the second half is huge. The struggled at times, but that was to be expected. It will pay dividends for UTSA in the latter part of the season when those freshman and sophomores will be needed to play important snaps in conference play. Hopefully they will get a chance next week versus a tougher opponent in Texas State.
