I was able to talk with the Argyle OT, Preston Wilson. Preston told me that he has been loving the recruiting process so far, and that “I have been hearing from Northwestern, Kansas, La Tech, UNT, Boise State, and Southern Miss.” Those are just the schools that he’s heard from in the last week. When asked about which UTSA coach he hears from most, he said, “I have heard from Coach Funk the most!” He also went on to speak highly of the staff by saying, “I think the staff is great. They all seem like they have a strong bond and really know how to turn a player from a good player to a great player!”
I continued by asking him about his opinions of Coach Frank Wilson, and he told me, “I feel like Coach Wilson is excellent. He is a winner, they have only had a football program for a few years now, and Coach Wilson has made them very successful!” We went on to talk about what Preston thinks of UTSA as a whole, and he said, “UTSA as a whole is awesome, the campus is beautiful! The people are great! The whole atmosphere and the way things are ran down there is just awesome!” Wilson seems very high on UTSA and if the staff works hard on Preston, I feel like the Road Runners have a very good shot to land him.
Preston went on to tell me, “What sets me apart from most others is my footwork! Also, I know how to finish plays and blocks, pancakes are my specialty!” When asked about what Preston looks for in a possible school to commit to, he said, “What I would look for in a school will be the coaching staff! Also, my relationship with my OL coach, because you will have to spend a lot of time with them! Also, a place where I can get involved in a local church and be in things like FCA!” It is very clear and specific as to what Preston is looking for, and let’s all hope that he finds these things at UTSA.
