SAN ANTONIO – Conference USA has released its 2020-21 scheduling and championship formats for men's basketball, featuring an 18-game league slate and a 12-team championship, it was announced by the league office.

The Roadrunners are scheduled for an 18-game league slate, featuring nine games at the Convocation Center. The league's Board of Directors approved a conference schedule that focuses on the health and safety of student-athletes and staff. It features a format with schools playing two games per visit at four select schools, and host four select teams for a two-game series, while playing a rival opponent one time home and away.

The goal is to significantly reduce the amount of travel during conference play, with an aim to minimize the risks associated with COVID-19. Additionally, the final week of the season could be utilized to re-schedule any postponed games.

UTSA will open its 2020-21 conference schedule with matchups on Dec. 31 and Jan. 2 at Rice in Houston. The Roadrunners will then host North Texas on Jan. 7 and Jan. 9 at the Convocation Center.

UTSA hits the road to face Louisiana Tech on Jan. 14 and Jan. 16, before hosting Southern Miss on Jan. 21 and Jan. 23.

The Roadrunners will face their travel partner, UTEP in a home tilt on Jan. 28, before traveling to El Paso to face the Miners on Jan. 30.

A three-game road swing continues with a pair at FIU on Feb. 4 and Feb. 6 in Miami, before the Roadrunners host Florida Atlantic on Feb. 11 and Feb. 13 at The Convo.

UTSA hits the road for the final time in the regular season on Feb. 18 and Feb. 20, taking on Charlotte in the Queen City.

The Roadrunners will host UAB on Feb. 25 and Feb. 27 to conclude their regular-season schedule.

The 2021 Conference USA Championships, presented by Baylor, Scott & White Sports Performance Center at The Star, will be held in Frisco March 10-13, for the fourth consecutive year, and will feature the top 12 teams in the standings.

UTSA is still in the process of finalizing its non-conference schedule, with the NCAA start date set for Nov. 25.

The Roadrunners are entering the fifth year under head coach Steve Henson and return a pair of dynamic scoring guards, seniors Jhivvan Jackson and Keaton Wallace. Jackson shattered the C-USA scoring mark with 26.8 points per game last year and broke the UTSA program standards in career and single-season points, field goals made and career and single-season 3-pointers last year. Wallace ranks fifth in UTSA history in scoring and is coming off scoring averages of 20.2 and 18.8 over his last two seasons.
