I think I penciled this game in as a win prior to the season but UAB has emerged as one of the better teams in CUSA West in their first year back. After their narrow loss to UNT, UAB went on a pretty impressive stretch beating La Tech, MTSU and Southern Miss. Sprinkled in there was an inexplicable loss to Charlotte.
QB AJ Erdley reminds me a lot of Dalton Sturm. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes and can hurt you with his feet. Freshman RB Spencer Brown is #2 in CUSA in rushing yards and averages 116 yd/game. Brown is quietly making a case as a freshman all American type player. Judson alum, Andre Wilson leads the team in receiving yards and TDs and his speed will be difficult for UTSA to challenge.
The UAB defense continues to rise and is currently listed as #6 in CUSA in total defense. Led by DL Shaq Jones, LB Tevin Crews, the UAB defense has come up clutch in several games as of late.
