Since it hasn't been given its own thread, I just wanted to mention a few former UTSA players who have signed with NFL teams as undrafted free agents or received minicamp invitations. Jared (@cokermania) covered the three names of most interest following last month's NFL Draft.
Safety Michael Egwuagu signed as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears, a team whose roster features a number of Texas athletes, including former Longhorns Sam Acho and Lamarr Houston, former Baylor Bears Cyril Richardson and Kendall Wright, former UTEP Miners Quintin Demps and Roy Robertson-Harris, former Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusader Jerrell Freeman, and Weatherford product and Notre Dame alum Kapron Lewis-Moore.
Safety Jordan Moore, the former TCU football/track athlete and SEC hurdles champion while at LSU who played one season for the Roadrunners as a graduate transfer, signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent.
Running back Jarveon Williams, who holds most of the program's rushing records (for now), signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals. He is listed on their roster at 5'9" and 202 pounds. Among the many Bengals with Texas connections are: DT Andrew Billings (Waco/Baylor), K Randy Bullock (Texas A&M), RB Tra Carson (Texarkana Liberty-Eylau/Texas A&M), QB Andy Dalton (Katy/TCU), OG Trey Hopkins (Galena Park North Shore/Texas), S George Iloka (Fort Bend Kempner/Boise State), rookie FB Darrin Laufasa (UTEP), OT Cedric Ogbuehi (Allen/Texas A&M), rookie OL Kent Perkins (Lake Highlands/Texas), rookie S Brandon Wilson (Houston), and OT Eric Winston (Midland Lee/Miami).
I haven't found any official releases confirming this, but former UTSA fullback Andrew King received an invite to the Buffalo Bills rookie mini camp, according to tweets by current CB Stanley Dye and former CB Darrien Starling.
Other former Roadrunners currently on NFL rosters are TE David Morgan (Minnesota Vikings, 6th round pick in 2016) DT Ashaad Mabry (New Orleans Saints) and DT Brian Price (Green Bay Packers). Former UTSA sprinter Teddy Williams, a Tyler John Tyler product who did not play football while in college, got a tryout with the Dallas Cowboys in 2010 after finishing his college track career, and he has since spent time on the active rosters of six NFL teams, playing both wide receiver and defensive back. He has been a member of the Carolina Panthers since 2015 and settled in as a backup defensive back and special teams contributor, and though his 2016 season was cut short due to a knee injury, he was re-signed by the Panthers to a one-year contract in March.
Also, former UTSA defensive lineman Jason Neill is on the active roster of the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He spent time on the training camp rosters of the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns last year but was cut from both teams. The CFL preseason begins in early June, and if Neill is still a member of the Tiger-Cats when their regular season begins, he'll play his first game on Sunday June 25th. Hamilton's roster also includes former Baylor wide receiver Jay Lee, and two players who have spent time with the Dallas Cowboys: DT Davon Coleman (who played in four games between the 2014 and 2015 seasons) and DE Mike McAdoo (who was on the practice squad in 2015 and was cut at the end of their 2016 training camp).
There should be a few more names in that company by this time next year, as seniors Marcus Davenport, Kerry Thomas, Josh Stewart, La'Kel Bass, Nate Gaines, and one or more of the interior line group of Stefan Beard, Austin Pratt, and Kyle McKinney could at least get consideration as undrafted free agents or training camp invitees (and at least one or two should get serious draft consideration) if they have good senior seasons this fall.
