The challenge for UTSA when recruiting out of state talent is for kids to visit UTSA's campus. They were successful in bring in Tyler Thurmond out of Buford [GA]. Standing at 6-5, 280 Thurmond projects to be an offensive tackle.
He had some great things to say about UTSA and the city of San Antonio as a whole.
"It went good (the visit). Really believe that coach Wilson has the program heading in the right direction. The city has a lot to do. River walk is cool."
Thurmond has an offer from UTSA and has Rivals rating of 5.4. UTSA is looking for size and length on the offensive line. Thurmond would be a welcomed addition to this class. UTSA seems to be in a good spot to land him at the moment. He holds offers from other CUSA and Sun Belt programs.
I asked Thurmond where UTSA stands in his recruitment. He responded with "definitely near the top".
