2017 offensive lineman Jacob Brammer (Richmond Foster) is a recruit I've mentioned on the boards once before, in the thread on OL recruiting several weeks back. At the Nike+ Football The Opening Houston regional event in April, he measured 6'4.5" and 275 pounds. As a junior he was named a first team all-district 24-5A offensive lineman and was also named to two all-state teams as a punter, earning a 2nd team nod at that position on the AP Sports Editors 5A all-state team.
He received his first offer from Rice in March, and has since added offers from Columbia, New Mexico, North Texas, and four others (mostly FCS schools), and he has also visited UL-Lafayette and Texas State. He tells me all of the schools that have offered him are recruiting him as a tackle.
When I asked him in June if he'd had any interest from UTSA he said he hadn't heard from them but liked the school, and he seemed genuinely interested in the program. As recently as last week after he was offered by North Texas he again said he'd had no contact with UTSA, then earlier today he told me one of the coaches texted him last night and invited him to come to San Antonio for a visit.
He wouldn't be at the top of my OL board for 2017 but he's a good player with legit size for the position, and while I'm glad to hear he's on the staff's radar (7 or 8 offers into his recruitment) I'm rather surprised it took the coaches this long to at least get in touch with him. Foster has some high profile athletes on its team this season, headlined by 2017 WR CeeDee Lamb, an Oklahoma commit, so I'm sure someone from the staff visited that campus in the spring. UTSA safety Andrew Martel attended Foster for his junior and senior years and is not only a former teammate of Brammer, but also a neighbor, as the two lived on the same street.
So if UTSA begins an earnest pursuit of Brammer they'll have someone on the roster who he knows and can help sell him on the program.
