2016 signees are starting to move into their dorms, and will start hitting the summer workouts soon. Seems like a good time to talk about who we expect to play their way into the some playing time this season.
There aren't a ton of kids from this class that I expect to have immediate impacts, but there are definitely a few guys we should pay attention to.
- Marquez McNair may be the single most talented guy UTSA has every signed. Before injuring himself early last season he had already received scholarship offers from TCU, Missouri, and about 12 other schools. If he's 100% we got ourselves a big time ball player in the slot.
- Franklin Uesi is another JUCO guy that didn't report for the spring. He looks like a great option for us as a DE in a 3/4 look. Probably can pencil him into the depth chart going into the summer.
- Jarrod McLin and Solomon Wise are very similar prospects. Tall, lean pass rushing defensive ends that remind me a lot of Davenport coming out of High School. Both should compete for a spot in the depth chart backing up Davenport as either a DE or stand up rushing OLB.
- Teddrick McGhee and Carrington Kearney are both wildcards at CB. McGhee is more likely to see playing time as a Freshman since Kearney was a QB in HS. Both are very good athletes and CB is still a pretty thing spot after the top 3 or 4 guys.
The rest, IMO, are straight Redshirts.
