I talked with the 5’11” 170 pound 3 star DB out of Shadow Creek, Jevin Murray, about his recruitment earlier today. He was actually at the Tulane junior day prior to our interview. Jevin said that he has really been enjoying his recruitment and that the process as a whole has been great. When asked about which schools he hears from the most he said he hears from “Texas Tech, Florida Atlantic, Boise State, Tulane, Louisville, Oregon State, Tulsa, Stanford and Utah.” He also hears from other schools outside of this list, but these are the ones that contact him frequently.
I went on to ask him exactly what he looks for in a school that he’d possibly commit to, and he told me “I’m a home body and so a pleasant campus environment and how well the school ranks academically, the football will take care of itself.” Out of the UTSA coaches, he said that he heard from Coach Sands the most early on. When I asked about what he thought of Coach Frank Wilson, he spoke very highly of him saying, “When I met Coach Wilson, I thought he was genuine and honest on how he felt about his players and the program itself, I like him.” I continued by asking him what he thought about UTSA, Murray stated, “Me and my family had a great time on our first unofficial visit, what we saw in the academic part of the university was impressive, we also returned for 2 home games to see the team play, I really do like the football program and the direction that it’s going in. And the city itself, the times that I’ve been there, I’ve enjoyed it.” It’s safe to say that UTSA has made a really good impression on Jevin.
Jevin went on to tell me about how his skills would be utilized on the field by saying “I’m naturally a CB that can play nickel and safety, either is fine with me, but they all say that they can plug me in either spot. Special teams for sure.” Jevin currently doesn’t have a top 3, but he said “I’m looking to have a top 5 real soon. I want to see how a few things go in the next week or so, but I do plan to have this process over with before the start of my senior year.
When I asked about UTSA’s junior day and what he was most looking forward to, he said that this was the first he had heard of it, but that “when I receive my official invite, I will be looking forward to meeting the new Safety coach and spending time with the staff and learning more about the whole program! And yes I will attend!” He seems pretty excited about trying to make it out to UTSA’s junior day. Later in the interview, Jevin went on to say “After UTSA’s Jr. Day, I’ll more than likely be ready to share with you my top 5 schools.” This seems like it could be very positive for UTSA if they blow him away at the junior day.
