- Can't wait to get out to New Mexico. It feels like a long time coming. We started our preparations a week ago but our focus has been on New Mexico and getting ready for a quality opponent for the past couple of days. It is exciting to be where we are right now, practicing in the middle of December.
- It is important to recognize the excitement of getting to a bowl and now the work begins to finish something you worked so hard to be in a position to achieve. To be bowl eligible is one thing to go out and be at your very best, be competitive and put yourself in position to claim victory is another thing. This week we are beyond the excitement and getting ready to play our best.
- It was important to focus on New Mexico early because of the uniqueness of their offense. It requires you to be disciplined and assignment sound. Repetition is your best teacher. We will have accumulated 10 plus practices for this team. I feel good about the progress we are making.
- Bowl doesn't change the game week schedule. We will practice here wednesday like we normally do on a Friday. We are in a game week mode right now. We will travel on Wednesday and then on Thursday we will have same practice time and same meeting time. We won't change much except for the practice site on Thursday and Friday.
- We have been fortunate to get production in a very unique situation for us here in San Antonio from a climate standpoint. The team have embraced it tremendously and have excelled. It's one thing to be mentally prepared for a certain climate, its another to be productive when you're in that situation. I think we will be prepared. Whatever the weather, it's UTSA weather. We've practiced in low 40s and in the 50s and 60s.
- We will have everybody up and going. Daniel Portillo was a little sore but he will be ready to go and every other position group we're up and at 'em, ready to go.
- To play well is critical in the bowl. If we go in and not play our best it would be unfortunate. I expect us to play at our very best and if we do so it gives us a tremendous jump start going into the 2017 signing class as well as season.
- Dr. Romo will be coming to Albuquerque on Thursday and Friday to do a condensed graduation ceremony for our seniors who won't be able to participate (in ceremony) on Saturday. It is phenomenal and speaks to the man he is.
