It was a busy day at the media round table today. Here are some of the things discussed today, starting with Coach Wilson. Players will be added shortly.

Frank Wilson
  • We will have a huge team Thanksgiving feast on Thursday to accommodate our players who come from a long way (away). We'll celebrate Thanksgiving together as a football family. We'll have Turkey, Chicken, Honey Baked ham and all the sides.
  • A really good day of practice yesterday. Morale and energy was high. Guys want to play well and they understand the opportunity that's before us.
  • Sunday's about the truth and the truth is you held the one-time number four team, now a top 25 team in the country to its lowest offensive output thus far second only to Alabama, the number one team. You played them as well as South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UCLA as far as offensive production. You limited very explosive returners from their special teams. We did the things we could do to try to slow down the phenomenal Myles Garrett which didn't allow as many guys out running routes as we would have liked. I was pleased with the amount of time (our) offense was able to take off the clock.
  • We're a couple of players away. We're a year or two away but we'll get there. We're making the right strides and to measure yourself against one of the top programs in the country was a great opportunity. I'm pleased with the progress we're making.
  • Our players were confident going into Saturday. It was validation that we do belong, that we're up to the task of whatever is put before us and when we in earnest play the way we're capable of playing we can compete with anybody.
  • Kyle McKinney did as well as we expected. There is a lot going on at that position. You have to snap the ball and step up to block and before the play you're in charge of calling out blocking assignments. I thought he did a good job for a guy who had not played one game at that position playing in a hostile environment.
  • Seen quite a bit on Charlotte. Watched their last game yesterday with staff. They are a very talented team. Their QB is a dual threat that has great ability to run and extend the play. The RB is a tough compact back who is nearing 1,000 yards. They have two receivers who are long, athletic and very talented. They aren't going to throw it 70 times a game but when they do throw it it's usually completed.
  • On defense they are one of the better teams in the country on pass defense. They are in the top 10 in the country for interceptions. They are a top three run defense in our conference. They have good skill defensive backs and they are stout up front.
  • In their last six games all have been decided by two possessions or less. They are 3-3 in those games but they are a very good team. They have played off their feet in the last six and could have easily been coming in here having won six straight.
  • As of right now don't know for sure who the starting QB will be this week. We will put the guy in who gives us the best chance against Charlotte.
  • Jalen Rhodes will go this week. He gives us a little juice.
  • Jarveon Williams has been a tremendous leader both on and off the field. He's a joy to coach and a joy to be around. He's a guy that you would want to come back and be on your coaching staff.
  • The growth and development of this team has been a beautiful thing to watch. The players have made great strides and the future is bright. One thing Coach Coker and the last staff did is they brought in quality young men. We are very fortunate to have the type of players that we have at this program.
