Quotes from today's media session. I'll post Frank Wilson and Whitaker will add some players throughout the day.

Wilson
  • Great recruiting weekend. We had two official visitors and about 50 unofficial visitors. The time of the game helped us for recruiting. It is easier to get to Saturday games at 6 for high school players. Sunday we came here for film and get ready for Middle Tennessee.
  • MTSU good all over the place. QB is about game management and production. Takes care of the ball and gets it out quickly. Spread team with great balance. A lot of RPO looks. They can pass, catch and run. Veteran offensive line. Balanced offense that puts strain on defense because they make you defend the whole team. This might be the most complete team we've faced. A lot of experience on both sides of the ball.
  • Experience is the best teacher. We knew it would take time for our young guys and we had to slowly bring them into the rotation. They've picked up and got better week by week. More confident, communicate better, the game has slowed down.
  • This was a new defense so even the veteran guys had adjustments to make. It's easier for the older guys to adjust. But we didn't return a lot of veteran players with experience. We played a lot of guys who hadn't played a lot of college football. We're beyond that now and we're playing more effectively.
  • We continue to challenge our team and they continue to challenge themselves individually. Josiah was getting picked up by the back on blitzes and Josiah figured out a way to get around him and making a play. It was a headsy play. It is getting routine from him and that's a good thing.
  • We're running the ball effectively and throwing it efficiently. The DNA of our football team is physicality. We knew we'd need that to finish games. Our like our identity right now.
  • Thursday is our red zone day in practice. We've been solid on offense and defense in those parts. We want that to be part of our identity on both sides of the ball. We want to get touchdowns on offense and to not break when we bend, even create a turnover. That is huge for us.
