- Feels good to get the sixth win. Its so obvious when we've played well and fall short to say we didn't finish, we got to learn how to finish. It happens, one time, two times, four times. To come in and have our backs pressed against the wall and have to respond, and we do so, its a great feeling because all of those times that it has happened to us truly have been teachable moments.
- Even once that opponent started threatening I could hear Frank Scelfo tell the offense, ok if they score here we have to be prepared to score. We go straight into two minute (offense) lets go through our menu. This is what we're doing this is how we're going to do it. The mindset was one that was eager for this opportunity. Now the game is in our hands lets go out and do our part after an outstanding outing by our defense.
- A total victory involves a dominate defense, an offense that moves the ball, even though we got stagnate close to the goal line we still moved the ball effectively. You contribute in more ways than just points.
- Think six wins is enough to get to a bowl but our intent is to make it seven. We want seven, Whether we get invited with six wins or seven is not something we have control over, its up to the bowls. Our desire is to finish this regular season with seven wins.
- This week is going to be a tough game. Louisiana Tech is similar to us in that they've lost some close games. I think we'll match up well with this team. They do a good job as a team offensively and defensively. They're skilled in the back end of the defense and they do a good job offensively of scheming what they do well which is making you defend the field.
- Last year I thought they had enough depth where it hurt us in the sense of their top two receivers are in the NFL now, we were able to limit those two guys but they had other receivers that stepped up and contributed in a big way. I say that and still Carlos Henderson scores three touchdowns, one on the opening kickoff, one on a reverse and he caught another one.
- We'll have to continue to hammer away on offense and move the ball. You look at our opening drive (last week) and other series and we moved the ball well. We were diverse in our approach. Now we have to get where we were (earlier in the season) where once we get down in the red zone we get touchdowns and not field goals.
- Told the seniors after the game congratulations. We dedicated the game to them so as a team we wanted to play well on behalf of those guys for all that they've put in and endured and have given to our university, to our program. There was recognition of them. Saturday morning where I give my speech I shared the stage with our seniors and several of them got up and spoke with the team about this moment. It was a big deal for us.
- No gatorade bath after the win saturday. Celebrated the win by dancing in the locker room and sang the fight song and alma mater. Plan is to save the gatorade bath for December. I have no control over it, the players decide it.
- Got to meet Lisa Campos on Saturday before the game. Had spoken to her over the phone before. We're glad to have her. She came out to our practice last night near the end and introduced herself to the team. We're happy to welcome her as our newest member of the bird family. We end every practice with the song "We are Family" and she came in around that song so it was perfect timing.
