These are some of the things I’ve been hearing from sources on how the first scrimmage of camp went:
- Grundy and Gillian’s were stand outs. Some accounts have Grundy looking better during the actually scrimmage, but Gillins might have had the better overall week.
- Jojo Weeks is coming along and look impressive, but lacks football IQ at the moment. Should come with more reps.
- Bryce Rivers is still in the thick of things not to be counted out.
- Healthy 4 guy race for the QB1 spot.
- Josiah Tauaefa is playing on another level. Seems to have slimmed down some and that has allowed him to play at a CUSA Defensive Player of the Year type level this camp.
- Sticks Jones, Tykee Kellogg, BJ Daniels, seem to be standouts so far.
- Sticks needs some more weight on him to be a regular contributor.
- Tykee Kellogg is special.
- B.J. Daniels is also performing at a high level. Will get plenty of carries this season.
- This offense is as talented as it’s ever been they just don’t have experience.
- Offensive line looks good. Jordan Wright did not participate cause of an injury.
- Spencer Buford running with the 1’s.
- Defense was solid as a whole but no other standouts this scrimmage besides Tauaefa.
- Overall an optimist vibe. Still not a finished product but team is heading in the right direction.
