This is a spring game. A good performance doesn't mean playing time in the fall. A bad performance doesn't mean certain doom. Take it all with a grain of salt, especially with a first-year coaching staff and injuries to key defensive players. There are a handful of players I'm curious to watch, and here are five.

JaBryce Taylor - Word from practice is the former JUCO transfer is dominating. Kerry Thomas set a school-record as a sophomore and has No. 1 receiver skills. Taylor emerged at the end of 2015. If he and Thomas can win 1-on-1 match ups, UTSA's offense opens up.

Tanner Myers - UTSA needs a right tackle. Tanner Myers is a JUCO transfer with an ideal frame for the position. He still needs to prove athletic enough to handle defensive ends at the FBS level. Cody Cole is better suited inside and Gabe Casillas hasn't materialized.

Baylen Baker - All I've heard is good things about the RS freshman defensive tackle. He and Kevin Strong give the Roadrunners two young anchors in the middle of the defense.

C.J Levine - He's a really good safety and he's had a chance to play a lot of snaps with a few older safeties not fully participating because of injury.

La'Kel Bass - Can he play Mike linebacker? If he can't, a transfer better be able to play it in the fall.
