- Today's emphasis was on third downs and turnover wednesday for defense, no turnover wednesday for offense. It was a very productive day. The guys came out spirited with a lot of energy and a lot of effort.
- The unique thing about us is we're coming out of camp and going to our regular school format. For us being an a.m. practice team its important that our players, young and veterans alike, discipline themselves to take care of their academic obligations but also to be a student of the game, that when they get in this evening, to make time around their schedule to be true students of the game, where they're studying things like third down emphasis.
- Very grateful for the contract extension. Very appreciative of this university's commitment to us, to this program right now in present day but also more importantly into the foreseeable future. I'm very humbled by the extension and thankful for it to allow us to move forward insuring our commitment to this program as well as the program's commitment to this football team.
- Team health is pretty good going into the season. There are the typical bumps and bruises, there are guys coming back to health. For the most part we are healthy. There are some guys who will go into next week and see where they're at in the rehabilitation process to see when they can go.
- Alin Edouard was out here today, its his first day. It's a ton (of information), we're two weeks out and he's learning the system, getting himself into our practice shape. It will be a while before he gets a complete grasp on it but a very bright young man. He can throw the ball very well, we just need to get him acclimated to our system. In due time he'll be prepared to give us what we need.
- We want him to be able to give us (another) quality backup that we need and to have able bodies. Throughout the season you need to have quality depth and to be able to build into the foreseeable future.
- Right now Dalton is the one and sometime next week we will be able to declare who the number two is.
- Tedderick McGee has been on and off. A little nicked up. He has an appointment tomorrow and so we'll see where he is. He's questionable right now for the opener. We'll know more by the beginning of next week.
- We can feel opening day getting closer. We're starting to rev it up a little bit. They introduced us to the Houston team today and the kind of defense they play. We know they're a great team.
- I know a guy over there. Isaiah Johnson, he went to a rival high school of mine. He went to Rudder. He was an all-state track runner and a receiver. He moved to cornerback at Houston. It will be fun seeing him. It will be fun going against those guys.
- From the young guys to the older guys the receivers have just been trying to get everybody playing to their best potential, making plays on balls and just bringing energy to practice everyday.
- We have many leaders in the receiving corps. There is no one person who carries the load. Everyone holds each other accountable.
