Frank Wilson and Juan Perez-Isidoro were the two that spoke with media today. Here is what they had to offer.

Frank Wilson
  • Had a really good day today. Energy was phenomenal. When you see guys still out here after, this is when they are enjoying football, when they are having fun. I tell our guys this is one of our pre-reqs, go have fun, be the kid that you were yesteryear when you grew up playing ball in your backyard.
  • Winning is confirmation that if you do the things that have been asked of you, that you've been trained to do, you reap the benefits of it. The buy-in becomes that much greater.
  • We are respectful of our opponent. They are a quality football team, a well coached football team but we need to focus on who we are and identifying ourselves and our ability to put together consecutive games because we have not done that yet. There are a lot of things we need to to do ourselves to be able to have success in this game.
  • Rice is going to show up and play their behinds off. They know how to win, they've done it before. We are still learning and we've never gone there and won before so that is something we need to prepare to be able to do.
  • Not looking ahead down the schedule. Taking it one step at a time, one game at a time. We can't look that far ahead. We deal with the present and the now. Thats what our focus is.
  • Should have everybody without a long-term injury available to go on Saturday. They practiced today and practiced well.
  • Josiah complimented his defensive linemen and the guys around him when he got his (conference player of the week) award. It was reflective of who he is and what this program is built upon. I'm thrilled for him. He works his behind off week in and week out. and he thoroughly deserved it. It is also a tribute to the men up front who put some pressure on the quarterback and demanded double teams.
Juan Perez
  • It was an amazing performance by the offensive line last week. Bye week came at a good time for us. The energy from the bye week transferred over and I feel that amplified the score of the game.
  • It was important for us to get out to a quick start. It got our momentum going. Its always a plus to start out fast and strong. Our hard work showed.
  • Rice is like any other team we've played. Its like any other away game. (Never having won there) is not something we're worried about. We produce our own energy and it will show this Saturday.
  • Our scout team has been doing a tremendous job of giving us looks at the schemes that Rice runs on defense. It's helping us prepare for what we're going to see on Saturday.
  • Haven't heard full story of Andrew King. I know by how he works that he is very resilient and it transfers to the players next to him. It is great to have players like him on our team. You see it out here on the field, in the weight room, in the locker room. He's a great guy.
