Busy day at practice today. Frank Wilson, Marcus Davenport and David Anzaldua all spoke with media after practice. Here is what they had to say.

Frank Wilson
  • We accomplished our goals for today. We continued to challenge guys who are going to be asked to step up in roles in one capacity or another. Some guys who are in starting roles, some guys who were threes that are now twos or fours that are now threes, guys that are one snap away or will be asked to go into the game to relieve some reps off some of the guys as we continue to try and play more people each week.
  • Thought our preparation was good today. Those guys who were asked to step up did a good job and not missing a beat once they were in.
  • The injured guys are all still day to day. They're rehabbing and we continue to be hopeful. Probably won't have a final determination until Thursday or Friday. We just keep on maximizing their rehabilitation and hope to get them all back.
  • Anzaldua played extensively two weeks ago. Last week he played quite a bit. The last two weeks he's played more than he ever has before. I would anticipate him playing in this game yet again. He's done a good job. He is solid at run blocking and pass blocking. He needs to continue to come along. The more he plays the better he will be.
  • Looking for consistency from Anzaldua. To maintain, its not good enough just to block a guy you have to sustain the block. He's a smart young man, he makes contact that's sincere but to slide off of (block) or not finish it through the duration where your guy throws you off eventually and falls back in to assist on the tackle. We don't want those things. We want to play through the whistle and finish the block.
  • Davenport is a good role model for our younger guys. He sets the tone of continuous development. I haven't arrived yet. He works as hard each and every day.
  • Tyrell Clay and Jalen Rhodes have both done a good job. Tyrell has really taken advantage of the opportunities he's been given. With us playing in the 70s range of plays, if we can split those guys to where they get 30 apiece they're at their best. It allows us to be at our best to have fresh guys in that maximize their potential.
