- It was a typical Tuesday practice where you give them the whole buffet of first and second down. We had been giving them some in increments over the bye week and on Sunday but today was a chance to really move forward as we start putting our gameplan together.
- It was a very productive day of practice. The energy was good, morale was high. We had competition all over the field.
- Guys are excited for the opportunity to compete. Coming off a bye week, although its important to have one of those and it allows us to put behind what needs to be put behind, you're eager for the next opportunity. On top of that its the conference opener, its for keeps. This one counts, like every game does but this one is most important because its the next one.
- Players seemed refreshed after bye week. Compliment our team on their maturity coming back. No issues, no concerns, everybody back on time. When you have 100+ young men on a weekend that they're free, there's always some worry so when they all get back safe and sound and responsible thats a good thing.
- Southern Miss is extremely athletic and fast. They fly all over the place and they make it chaotic in their presentation of what they are doing schematically.
- I think Southern Miss is the best team that we've seen so far to be honest. When you look at the amount of athleticism they have and the ability for their defensive line to play multiple positions and pursue to the ball the way they do. We're going to have to tackle their running back and contain their receivers. We will have our hands full with them.
- The fact we had 14 big plays against Texas State speaks to the team, we're a team and so next man up mentality, whoever the ball goes to you are expected to do what the play is designed to do and thats to be a productive play to the best of your ability.
