Roadrunners practice not affected by storm

The hail storm that hit San Antonio on Tuesday night did not affect the Wednesday practice of the Roadrunner football team.
Nor did it affect the players and coaches either.
"I think as far as coaches and players are concerned we survived it." UTSA Head Coach Frank Wilson said. We were anticipating it to be a little moist and slippery today but we didn't have that. It turned out to be beautiful today."
It was business as usual Wednesday as the Roadrunners continued to work on getting ready for the Spring Game in 10 days time.
"It's 10 days left," A surprised Wilson said. "I thought it was less than that, it has been going so fast."
The big news in recent days has been the arrival of former Sam Houston State quarterback Jared Johnson this fall.
"I got a chance to coach against him when I was at LSU and we were playing Sam Houston," Wilson said. "He came in the game and did some adequate things. I had much admiration for the player he was."
Johnson will be part of the Roadrunners for the fall but for now the current quarterbacks on the roster are working with the knowledge that there will be a competition for that position in August.
"Competition is never a bad thing," Roadrunner quarterback Dalton Sturm said. "He will come in and whoever's the best man will get the job. Whoever doesnt get it will be there for the starting guy to help him out."
Before the Roadrunners can see what Johnson can do they have to get through the spring practice season which is now in the home stretch.
"We have to continue to take steps to get better each day," Wilson said.
The Roadrunners have three more practices before their spring game on April 23.
