Roadrunners turn attention to spring game
By: Stephen Whitaker
Mother Nature kept the Roadrunners from practicing on Monday. The lightning moved on and by Wednesday the Roadrunners had blue skies and white clouds to practice under.
In their first practice since last Friday the Roadrunners started off slow but were able to pick up the pace as practice went on.
"It was a little sluggish for a while, we had a couple of days off. We had a lightning issue on Monday and couldn't practice that day," Head Coach Frank Wilson said. "So here you go four days since you have been out here so we had to get some cobwebs out and get back into the flow of things but once practice got going we were good to go."
The Roadrunners now count down the final few days until the Fiesta Spring Game. All of the hard work that the Roadrunners have done for the last few weeks will culminate on the Alamodome field.
"I want to see that our depth chart is continuing to develop," Wilson said. "That we have the quantity of players that can withstand a full season."
While Saturday's game might not have the hoopla of the games to come in a few months it will still give fans a glimpse at what the new look Roadrunners might have going for them in the fall.
"It won't be our whole playbook but it will be a quality amount of the stuff we have done," Wilson said. "That is the only way we can get better by doing the things that we've practiced."
The Spring Game will kickoff at 1 pm on Saturday April 23 at the Alamodome.
