The UTSA Roadrunners are now past the halfway point of the spring practice schedule. Practice number eight was held Wednesday and there was a shift in the tenor of the practice.

Wednesday was the first day that the team shifted its attention from learning new schemes to putting all of those schemes into practice.

"We challenged them and they responded," UTSA Head Coach Frank Wilson said. "We had probably our most spirited day today."

Among the things that Wilson saw from the Birds in practice eight was leadership beginning to come through with several players.

"You have to develop leadership," Wilson said. "Especially with a young team. We have had a few guys step up. As an entire group we are growing."

According to Wilson a few of the players that seemed to step up were JaBryce Taylor, Josiah Tauaefa, and Kevin Strong.

Now the Roadrunners turn the corner toward the home stretch of the spring season.

"Today was a big day for us, psychologically more than anything," Wilson said. "You've given them so much and now your at a point where enough is in and they just need to play fast. We were able to get that done today."

The Roadrunners are back on the field Friday morning. There will be three practices next week and two the week after that before the annual Spring Game on April 23.
