The Roadrunners spent the day pin balling between practicing outside and inside the UTSA Rec Center. The players wanted to stay outside but lightning in the area meant part of the day would be spent indoors. The portion of practice that was supposed to open for media was not held on Wednesday so there wasn't much to go on other than what was said by Coach Wilson and the players.
Observations:
There were scouts from the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles at practice but who they were there to scout is not known at this time.
Wilson, the Bayou Gambler, is holding his cards close to his chest in terms of who the starting quarterback will be. He mentioned the quarterback battle could continue for a few more weeks.
"It could go all the way up until kickoff (of the season opener)," Wilson said.
Regardless of who is the starting quarterback, Center Juan Perez is ok working with either one.
"There's not a lot of difference between them," Perez said. "There's a lot of time left for them to competing. I'll snap to whoever."
On the defensive side of the ball the Roadrunners have continued to work on getting better at forcing turnovers.
"It is a defense thats allowing us to fly around more and be more free," Safety Michael Eguwagu said. "Me as a player I love it and I know my guys love it as well. Its a more aggressive defense. Anytime your in a more aggressive defense it allows you to pressure the ball and cause takeaways."
The Roadrunners will continue to practice on Thursday and Friday. The next media availability is Saturday so check back then for another update.
