Levine is a Houston native who chose UTSA in the 2015 class. He played some as a true freshman and was a starter at safety this spring, though it is likely because some of the key contributors at safety (Gaines mostly) was out to injury. Here is my interview with one of my favorite players from the 2015 class.
Q: How much did you grow this spring with the extra reps?
A: I grew up a lot. I became more productive and tried to step up as a leader. It gave me an opportunity to show these new coaches what I'm capable of on the football field.
Q: How much did your limited reps as a true freshman help the transition into starting snaps this spring?
A: It is a different speed and a different strength at the college level. So I was able to adjust to it a little bit quicker this spring than maybe some of those guys who only got practice team reps as a freshman. Football is football, though. For me, it was a great learning experience and it was an edge.
Q: What are some of the differences at safety under this new staff?
A: We have a lot of differences. There are more expectations. They understand it's a learning process and we're trying to bond. They don't harp on us too much right now. It takes time and dedication. You have to want to put in the work and the coaches know who those guys are. We need each and every player to be dedicated to it.
