- Our goal is to win the game. Doesn't matter margin of victory.
- The road team has won in the past between UTEP/UTSA. Home team never won. We want to change that.
- Validated after this win. Put together consecutive wins and did it in a place we haven't had success. We came from behind, extended the league and then held on to victory. What our defense did at the end of the game was confirmation we're taking steps in the right direction. Our offense had a long drive to give our defense a time to regroup. We ended up making the decision to go for it, but we had the ball a long time.
- They converted 3rd down early and then we improved in the game. Liked our adjustments. Even their receptions were contested. That is going to happen, but we had guys there and we tackled. That gave us a chance to limit points.
- Don't consider youth at this time of the season. It's about who gives us the best chance to win. We like our young corners length and intangibles. That length is disruptive. Jupe and McGee are both in that mold. C.J. Levine plays the game with burst, energy and physicality.
- The running game was inconsistent. We were one block away a few times. Good thing is that is all fixable. We'll continue to improve there, but main thing is consistency.
- We've converted all five turnovers into points, which is a tremendous contribution from special teams and offense. We have to make those count and we have. Those rugby style punts can be harder to field. The ball is hard to predict. I've never seen this many fumbles on punt return.
- Sean Kugler is a very good football coach. He's a former OL guy and coach. Has NFL experience. They're going to try and run the ball effectively. They're run unbalanced sets with extra OL. We need to do a good job of tackling. Aaron Jones is on his way to 1,000 yards again. Defensively, they run a 3-4 defense. Biggest DL we'll face this year. It will require us to create some movement. We need to come off the ball and get our running backs to the second level. Always a dangerous team, especially as the visiting team if we look at this historically.
- Marcus Davenport is meeting expectations. He's holding the point in the run game. Always been an outstanding rusher, but his extra weight is helping him at the point of attack. That's the body type at that position because of the versatility. Can rush, play run and still has athleticism to drop in coverage. We want guys with length.
- Josh Stewart is impressing. He and Dalton are building chemistry. Dalton trusts him. Dalton takes what the defense gives us but we want to take shots when it makes sense. Josh high-points the ball great. Uses length to his advantage.
- No injury to Perez.
