A name all of us should get familiar with is Roosevelt athlete Rashod Owens. He picked up his first offer from UTSA on April 20th. He then proceeded to pick up 8 more offers since then. Owens offer list includes Kansas, Tulane, Army, Georgia Southern, and more. I caught up with to talk about his recruitment, and where UTSA stands.

Owens plays running back and wide receiver for Roosevelt, but is being recruited to play running back at UTSA. His main recruiter is new running backs coach Rishaw Johnson. He talked about his relationship with the newly promoted coach.

“It’s been great. He’s extremely funny, a nice dude, and loves to communicate! He respects everything and treats me like family.”

And although he did not visit UTSA during the spring Rishaw Johnson visited Owens at his school when his spring started and for his spring game.

I asked Owens about his thoughts on UTSA at this early stage.

“I love it! [UTSA is] very pleasing, and just the environment around [the program] is amazing.”

It won’t be easy for Rishaw Johnson. Owens tells me that in addition to UTSA, Tulane, Kansas, and Oklahoma State are recruiting him the hardest.

As for what he is looking for in a program he commits to?

“A place like home.”
