What looked on paper like a position without a bunch of depth has turned itself into a really strong position group as camp has progressed. Rhodes is still the clear cut starter, but after reading Wilson's quotes the past few weeks we can pencil in BJ Daniels as his backup. Coach has been quick to praise Daniels during his media availability, and mentioned that he had a 90 yard run in practice yesterday. Highly recruited kid seems to be living up to that billing.
Tyrell Clay, Brett Winnegan, and Demarco Guidry have all also gotten some really good things said about them. Clay appears to be the leader for 3rd down snaps. His pass blocking is probably what sets him apart from rest of running backs.
The real wild card in the backfield though is Halen Steward. Apparently he was dominant as a ball carrier during the scrimmage Saturday. Excited to see what he can do when completely healthy.
My hope is that RB depth is settled enough that Guidry can start transitioning back to LB as soon as possible. Feel like he's a game changer at OLB.
