From Jared Cole:

Morris Joseph Update

Earlier this week I chatted with Morris Joseph, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive lineman, from West Orange Stark High School. Playing a combination of defensive end and defensive tackle, Joseph has been the anchor of a defense that has produced six shutouts. Helping his team to a 7-0 start, Joseph has 60 total tackles, including 35 solo, 11 TFL and 3.5 sacks. The dominating defensive tackle has seven offers this far, and is currently committed to UTSA.

Joseph, previously having visited, loved what he saw at UTSA. In his own words, his “expectations were exceeded” and he was “very impressed with the fans at the Alamodome.” At the time he committed, Joseph thought “UTSA was the best fit for [him]” and he noted that “the coaching staff played a key role in [his] commitment.”

Coach Henderson, the defensive line coach, has been the main man in contact with Joseph. Specifically, at a UTSA camp at the beginning of this past summer, Joseph said he “liked the way (Henderson) coached everyone up and [he] liked the way (Henderson) was enthusiastic and competitive, like [himself].” In addition, Joseph felt “the whole staff coached with a different swagger and Coach (Frank) Wilson interacted well with all the campers.” When asked his thoughts on where UTSA is headed as a program, Joseph responded that he thinks “the UTSA program is on a constant rise and they have a lot of potential.”

Overall, Joseph believes his enthusiasm, work ethic and competitive nature are the biggest factors he will bring any program. Joseph also added that he is “very confident in [his ]ability and that [he] is a winner.” Additionally, Joseph is a pleasure to talk to and is veryknowledgeable about the game; he could certainly be a difference maker at the next level.

Tariq Woolen Update

Recently, I caught up with Tariq Woolen, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound wide receiver from Arlington. The sure-handed receiver grabbed two passes, including one that went for six, in a tough loss that dropped Arlington Heightsto 4-2on the season.

In his own words, Woolen says his height and the “speed [he] possesses at his height” are what set him apart from the rest. Woolen has numerous offers from across the state, including offers from North Texas, Texas State, Houston and UTSA.

Wide receivers coach, Jeff Kastl, has been the lead man after Woolen. The big-play receiver thinks “Coach Kastl is really cool” and that the rest of the staff whom he has spoken with “carry real nice vibes.”

Woolen has yet to see UTSA, but has an official visit planned on December 9th.

Currently “every college is pretty even right now” in Woolen’s mind. When asked what he wants in a football program, Woolen said he looks “for a school that passes a lot.” Other factors that will contribute to his decision are whether he feels he “can be comfortable and have fun” at whatever school he chooses. The electric receiver plans to commit sometime in December.
