At present, two of UTSA's commitments for the 2017 recruiting class are linebackers: Demarco Guidry (La Marque) and Donovan Perkins (Zachary, LA). The linebacking corps will need new blood in the 2017 class, not so much to reinforce the depth chart for the 2017 season but to fill the roster in the seasons that will follow that one. The current roster lists ten linebackers, including walk-ons, and of those ten there are three seniors and six more who will be seniors in 2017. The 2016 class additions did not help long-term depth at the position, as both of its signees were Jucos, and Ronnie Feist joined the program as a graduate transfer. Barring any redshirts that extend someone's eligibility, the only current linebacker who will still be on the roster in 2018 is former DE Josiah Tauaefa.
Here are UTSA's current offers out to uncommitted athletes listed as linebackers on the Rivals database. As usual, I'll add some names later who I believe merit an offer (or at least serious consideration for one) from the staff as well.
Outside Linebackers
Bruce Jordan-Swilling (Brother Martin - New Orleans) - Son of an NFL vet, tons of P5 offers; his brother Tre Swilling (a four-star 2017 CB) also has a UTSA offer.
Riko Jeffers (Sachse) - comes from Drew Douglas's alma mater; best offers: Colorado, Houston, Indiana, and Oklahoma St. UTSA has also offered his teammate 2018 safety Isaiah Humphries
Kenneth Murray (Fort Bend Elkins) - Very athletic kid who's probably bound for UT or Oklahoma
Aubrey Miller (Whitehaven - Memphis, TN) - Three-star recruit, has offers from Iowa State, Louisville, and Missouri
Daimen Anderson (Fletcher - Neptune Beach, FL) - Ungraded prospect whose only other listed offer is Alcorn St.
Zikerrion Baker (Minden, LA) - Only other listed FBS offer is UL-Lafayette
Cade Mashburn (Norman North - Norman, OK) - Three-star recruit with a smattering of G5 offers: Arkansas St., Colorado St., Memphis, UNT, New Mexico, Wyoming
Davion May (Hammond, LA) - Has a listed offer from Kansas St., others from Ball St., Colorado St., UL-Lafayette, LA Tech, Southern Miss, and FCS. His teammate 2017 DE Chris Turner also holds a UTSA offer.
Chris Ross (Enterprise, AL) - Also has FBS offers from Southern Miss and Tulane.
Tralon Thomas (Ville Platte, LA) - Colorado State is his only other FBS offer, has several from Southland and Southwestern Athletic Conference schools.
Inside Linebackers
Anthony Hines (Plano East) - Four-star stud, it's easier to count the FBS schools that haven't offered him than the ones that have. Believed to be high on Oklahoma and Texas.
Juwuan Jones (Lanier - Sugar Hill, GA) - Three-star recruit with offers from Wisconsin, all three service academies, Columbia, and a mix of Conference USA, Sun Belt, and MAC schools.
Cameron Heil (Baker - Bakersfield, LA) - Attended Junior Day at LSU and UL-Lafayette, but his only other claimed offer is Kentucky Christian.
Patrick Howell (Pearland Dawson) - His only other listed offer is Memphis, which was first to offer him in May.
Ronald Ladd (Rosa Fort - Tunica, MS) - Was offered by Mississippi St. a year ago, holds others from Southern Miss and UL-Monroe. Seems weird that someone would pick up a SEC offer before their junior year and hold so few offers a year later.
