The Roadrunners were back on the field today after being off for spring break last week. Today media got to speak with Coach Wilson as well as La Kel Bass, Manny Harris and Kyle McKinney. Here are some of the important plot points.

Frank Wilson
  • Today was a phenomenal day of practice. I thought our energy was outstanding. Our transition was on par with where we need to be to be efficient. Guys were eager to get back out here.
  • Before they left (for spring break) we talked about protecting our team and we showed them examples of spring break in previous years and some of the things that happened and we used it to be a lesson for us to be responsible, to take care of yourself and take care of the team. We had another team meeting yesterday and roll call was taken. Everyone showed up on time.
  • All the spring practices have gone well. Today was probably our best overall day. We fought through it, we competed, we had a lot of team concepts, we stayed together as units today and did some competitions. They responded in a big way. Very pleased with effort they displayed.
  • We are creating a winning culture that everything counts from the moment they come into the gate. It is imperative that you be a student of the game and take things from position meetings and apply those on the field. I think the culture is better than it's ever been. They all have big smiles on their faces while their doing hard things.
  • Thought our defensive line was outstanding today. They penetrated the line of scrimmage. They disengaged from blocks and Solomon Wise had a scoop and score touchdown after Kevin Strong stripped it. They were flying all over the place, as Coach Davis puts it, piranhas to the ball.
  • I'm looking for consistency (between now and spring game). For us to continue to ascend and not to flatten out. That each practice we get better. It's important to us that we don't stay stagnate. The reality is either you're getting better or getting worse.
