- You want to give the guys that are new to your program the opportunity to be introduced to the identity of our football team and that's toughness. You could be as skilled as you can be but if your not tough, that goes against the grain of the DNA of this program. We want tough guys at every position.
- Josh Dunlop, our transfer OL, we wanted to know who he was so we matched him up with Baylen Baker to sort of baptize him. It was a great matchup. It stood out cause you just didn't know. I thought he did well.
- Everybody looked crisp today. The physicality was there. It's always good to hear that little pop, to make sure that we are who we are and that's not a team of t-shirt All-Americans but guys that enjoy contact.
- We have guys giving great effort. I like the energy. We have guys that are competing their behinds off. They're being students of the game. I thought our team improved overall today.
- It wasn't a true scrimmage with tackling today but we let the guys make contact. It was physical, especially up front. To see our defensive line try and do a good a job at times stopping run plays and to see our offensive line at times knock them off the ball with power. I was encouraged by the strides we've made in week one.
- Backup QBs are trying to figure it out. There is a mental part of it that needs to happen with the speed of the game but they're taking steps in the right direction, We're not there yet but we're making the right strides.
- It's good to see recruits out visiting the practice. It's good to see them excited about our program. When you get van loads of kids and parents and high school coaches out here thats good to see. It means we're doing something right and people are interested in what we're doing. We continue to encourage that.
