The Roadrunners had a closed scrimmaged again on Friday as they get closer to the spring game next Saturday. Practice went a little longer than scheduled but there were three players available for the media.

  • I thought the scrimmage went well today. There were a lot of positives offensively. We moved the ball well. I missed a fourth down play but I have to clean that up and give them a chance to make a play. I thought we communicated well on offense and the receivers did some great things. Just have to go in and watch the film and grow from it.
  • I've noticed improvement on the finer details. Like coach always says we're not a team of innovation we're a team of execution so we just have to go out there and we're going to execute the plays we run to perfection. For me as a QB that's making the perfect drop (back) every time, making sure that we're on the same page.
  • Even though starter the pressure is not off. You always have guys that want to compete. I come out here everyday to better myself. Being starter at UTSA was a goal for me but now I have bigger goals and I want to be a better player and as big of an asset for this team as I can be.
  • Leadership has really emerged on this team. Last year we had some great leaders as well but this year a lot of guys are holding each other way more accountable than I've ever seen before.
  • Some of the inconsistency last year came from learning the new system and guys not knowing what they were going to do, but it's not an excuse, if we can be consistent in three or four out of the 12 games we can be consistent every single week. We are way more knowledgeable of the offense.
  • The backups are doing a great job. They are doing as much as they can. I tell them the main thing is don't compete against the guy your competing with, compete against the guy within. Go out there and try to better yourself everyday to be the best quarterback you can be and the results will follow.
