Last week we talked to St. James [LA] safety Tyler Steib to get caught up on his recruitment. The two sport athlete received an offer from UTSA back on February 8th. He talk to him about his thoughts on the coaching staff, UTSA, and more.
UTSA has not been shy about going into Louisiana to get players. Cornerbacks coach Deron Wilson has spearheaded that movement in recent years.
Deron Wilson is Steib’s main recruiter right now. I asked him if he could give me his thoughts on him.
“He is a great guy. We keep in contact with each often. He is a guy that establishes relationships quick and I respect that.”
Steib was scheduled to visit UTSA, but due to some unforeseen circumstances he was not able to make to San Antonio.
Although he did not have a chance to visit UTSA I asked him what his initial impressions of the program were.
“My impression of UTSA is that it’s a program that wants to win and will work everyday to achieve their goals.”
He was been hearing from other programs, but Steib tells me New Mexico State and Southeastern Louisiana have been recruiting him the hardest.
As for what he is looking for in the program he commits to?
“A great atmosphere where we like to work and win as a team.”
Steib does not have a timetable for a decision.
