I was able to catch up with David Gbenda, the 6’0” 210 pound linebacker out of Cinco Ranch, about his recruitment. David told me that the process has been going really well for him so far. He told me that the school he hears from most would definitely be U of H. When asked about which UTSA coach he hears from the most, Gbenda said “I hear from the linebacker coach mostly.”
We went on to talk about what he thinks of Coach Frank Wilson and David’s opinion of UTSA, and he said, “It’s nice with him there, and as a university, I feel it’s a good school.” We continued on to talk about what sets him apart from other players at his position, and Gbenda said, “I feel like my work ethic and natural ability set me apart from others.” Work ethic and natural ability are two attributes that are always very nice to see combined together.
We continued by talking about what exactly he looks for in a possible school to commit to, and David said, “I look for a home. When I can see myself being successful all around academically and athletically.” Hopefully Coach Wilson will be able to get Gbenda on campus sometime soon and give him that “home” feeling. David also went on to tell me that he will not be at UTSA’s junior day, and he currently doesn’t have a top 3 to share with us. It was hard to get a gauge of his interest in UTSA, but if David can end up making his way to campus, I wouldn’t doubt Coach Wilson’s ability to increase Gbenda’s interest in UTSA.
