SAN ANTONIO — UTSA’s conference opener at Middle Tennessee has been moved to Friday, Sept. 30, from Saturday, Oct. 1, in Murfreesboro at the request of Conference USA. Additional information will be announced at a later date.

This date change comes less than one week after it was announced that the Roadrunners’ league road contest at FIU was moved to Friday, Oct. 14, in Miami.

UTSA’s fifth all-time meeting with Middle Tennessee will mark the first Friday game for the Roadrunners since they downed Western Kentucky 49-41 in the C-USA Championship Game last Dec. 3 at the Alamodome to capture the program’s first league crown. It also will be the second time in the last three seasons that the Roadrunners and Blue Raiders have met on a Friday, as UTSA registered a 37-35 home triumph on Sept. 25, 2020. The Roadrunners lead the series with Middle Tennessee 3-1, including a 45-25 victory in the lone previous meeting in Murfreesboro.

UTSA has played on a Friday four times overall and owns a 3-1 record in those contests. The Roadrunners defeated Houston 27-7 on the road to open the 2014 campaign before dropping a heartbreaking 32-28 decision to Arizona State in 2016 at the Alamodome in their first two Friday games.

The defending C-USA champion Roadrunners will open their 12th season of play on Saturday, Sept. 3, when they host Houston at the Alamodome. Following road games at Army on Sept. 10 and Texas the following Saturday, UTSA will close out the out-of-conference docket on Sept. 24 at home against Texas Southern.

Following the Friday contest at Middle Tennessee, UTSA, which went 12-2 and made its second straight and third overall bowl appearance last year, will host WKU on Oct. 8.

UTSA then travels to Miami for the Friday date with FIU on Oct. 14 before hosting North Texas on Oct. 22 at the Alamodome.

After their lone idle week of the season, the Roadrunners will once again hit the road to face UAB on Nov. 5 in a clash of the top two teams in C-USA’s West Division in 2021.

The Roadrunners will host Louisiana Tech on Nov. 12, travel to Houston to play Rice on Nov. 19 and then close out the regular season slate at home against UTEP on Nov. 26.

The 2022 Ryan C-USA Championship Game is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 2.

The 2022 C-USA alignment will feature 11 teams. Charlotte, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Rice, UAB, UTEP, UTSA and WKU comprise the conference for the 2022 football season.

The 2022 schedule complies with C-USA scheduling policies as approved by the Board of Directors.

It is important to note that all games are subject to date changes and some dates are expected to move in the coming weeks in order to accommodate national television selections. A schedule of televised games will be released at a later date.
