SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head football coach Jeff Traylor on Wednesday announced the addition of 13 student-athletes to the program on the first day of the early signing period.

The group includes Tyrone Brown, Zach Causey, Chace Davis, Payne He’Bert, Deandre Marshall, Owen Pewee, Jamar Richardson, Ben Rios, Jared Sackett, Diego Tello, Brandon Tennison, Houston Thomas and Jace Wilson.

The class features a near-even split of six transfers and seven who are coming from the high school ranks. Of the transfers, four are moving to San Antonio from an FBS program — including three from Power 5 teams — while the other pair last played at a junior college.

Of the 13 signees, 10 hail from the state of Texas with two apiece from San Antonio, Central Texas, East Texas, the Greater Houston Area and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The out-of-state signees will head to UTSA from Alabama, California and Mississippi.

Seven members of the class are offensive players, five are pegged for the defensive side of the ball and one is a specialist.

The early signing period runs through Friday, Dec. 17.
