No.5 LSU used a strong second half to pull away from Western Kentucky 48-20 on Saturday night. As the rain came down in Baton Rouge, LSU rushed for 211 yards compared to WKU's 103 - which really turned the tide after WKU finally tied the game. Overall, the Hilltoppers and Tigers finished with 428 and 497 total yards.

UTEP ended a two-game skid and beat FAU 27-17. FAU came in averaging 23.2 points per game but scored all of their points in the second quarter alone. Both teams now have one win in Conference USA play.

In a meeting of two quarterbacks ranked in the top 20 nationally, LA Tech defeated Middle Tennessee 45-16. There was just under 700 yards of overall passing in this matchup (682) but it was all decided by 66 yards and four touchdowns thanks to Kenneth Dixon.

After beating UTSA 32-10, Southern Miss visited Charlotte and won 44-10. Nick Mullens threw touchdown passes to four different receivers in what became the fifth straight game dropped by the 49ers. UTSA should be ready to study the Lee McNeill that not only lost to Old Dominion last weekend but finished 10 of 27 for 93 yards and two interceptions this weekend. The Roadrunners can stop him but must avoid losing to Charlotte in a low-scoring game that, when they play UTSA, will be their last home game of the regular season.

Rice beat Army 38-31 in the Owls' fourth straight win over the Black Knights. Army's 174-snap streak with no turnovers was snapped by the Rice defense after Army's first offensive play of the game. That was less than 20 seconds after Rice's first score. Knowing just that, you might think Rice dominated this game somehow - but after a lot of early success for the Owls, Rice has held scoreless for 24:04 during the 1st half. Army ranks 12th in FBS in rushing but poor ball handling really lost this game for them.

Marshall scored 24 unanswered points in the first half before defeating North Texas 30-13. Sure, Marshall dominated this game but UTSA needs to watch the end of yesterday's game where UNT's DaMarcus Smith marched the Mean Green 93 yards in nine plays, capping the drive with a 22-yard scoring pass. UTSA (thankfully) does not have to play Marshall this year but North Texas had 337 total yards in this game. There WILL be rain Saturday night in Denton and it will be very cold and slippery in Apogee.

Alex McGough was running at a 79.5% completion rate when he threw three touchdowns for 390 yards and no interceptions in FIU's 42-12 win over Old Dominion. The Monarchs' most dangerous player, David Washington, finished with 125 yards passing. The former wideout-turned-quarterback injured his left leg during the game and there hasn't been much news on the severity of said injury since. UTSA, if somewhat more healthy than it currently is - after beating North Texas, can win Homecoming without too many problems.
