SAN ANTONIO — Coming off its only idle week of the regular season, UTSA has climbed up in both national polls this week to No. 16 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and No. 18 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll released on Sunday.

Off to the best overall (8-0) and conference (4-0) starts in program history, the Roadrunners received 460 votes to jump five spots from No. 23 to 18th in this week’s AP Top 25. UTSA first cracked the AP Top 25 at No. 24 two weeks ago before moving up one spot after the 45-16 win at Louisiana Tech. This also marks the sixth consecutive week and seventh time overall UTSA has received votes in the poll. On Sept. 20, 2020, UTSA collected two votes in the AP Top 25 Poll, a first for the program.

Currently riding a school-record eight-game winning streak — tied for the third-longest active streak in the FBS — the Roadrunners received 401 votes this week to move from No. 22 to 18th in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll. UTSA made its first appearance in the top 25 in program annals at No. 25 on Oct. 17 and this marks the eighth straight week the Roadrunners have collected votes in that poll.

The Roadrunners also have landed in the Football Writers Association of America/National Football Foundation Super 16 Poll for the first time, appearing at No. 16 with 27 points this week.

The Roadrunners — one of six undefeated FBS teams — will travel to El Paso to face UTEP (6-2, 3-1) this Saturday, Nov. 6.Kickoff is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. CT at the Sun Bowl and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
