SAN ANTONIO – UTSA freshman guard Jhivvan Jackson will miss the remainder of the 2017-18 basketball season with an injury sustained in Saturday’s (Feb. 24) game, head coach Steven Henson announced Tuesday.
“Unfortunately, Jhivvan suffered a knee injury that will require surgery,” said Henson. “This is a season-ending injury.
“Jhivvan was having a terrific season for us. We have a fantastic team of athletic trainers and doctors who will take great care of him. Jhivvan’s support from his family is terrific and he has an extremely bright future with us.”
Prior to his injury, Jackson, UTSA’s leading scorer, had set the UTSA freshman scoring record, was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week seven times and was Conference USA’s fifth-leading scorer at 18.4 points per game.
Coach Henson and Jackson are unavailable for further comment at this time.
