Texas Tech job opened up and Coach Traylor's name has been at or near the top of basically every list I've seen released the past day or so.
Tech Pros for Traylor
Tech paid Matt Wells around 3 mil per season which is more than 3 times what Traylor makes in base pay.
Tech is a Big12 team with a bigger budget all around and recruits at a level a solid level above us.
Tech Cons for Traylor
Outside of Leach there has been very little success there in the past 20 years. And even Leach never really won big there.
Big12 won't be the current Big12 in a few years, and the current budget probably won't be the budget in 3 to 5 years.
Even if they recruit above UTSA, they don't recruit at a P5 level and never have.
This job would boil down to money. Salary for Traylor, salary pool for his coaches, and budgets for recruiting etc. We won't be able to match the money but we can try to get it close enough that the Cons will outweigh the Pros. Traylor should honestly hold out for a better job.
