NEW ORLEANS — UTSA quarterback Frank Harris has been selected as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week for his record-setting performance in the win over WKU, the Allstate Sugar Bowl announced on Thursday.

The Schertz Clemens High School product earned the honor over seven other Manning Award Stars of the Week in the Allstate Sugar Bowl’s Facebook contest. Other honorees this week included Brennan Armstrong (Virginia), Zach Calzada (Texas A&M), Matt Corral (Ole Miss), Dustin Crum (Kent State), Carson Strong (Nevada), C.J. Stroud (Ohio State) and Caleb Williams (Oklahoma).

Harris, who also earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week accolades, helped lead UTSA to a 52-46 win over WKU last Saturday in Bowling Green, helping the Roadrunners improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in C-USA play. He completed 28-38 passes for a career-best 349 yards and a school-record six passing touchdowns — tied for second-most in a game by an FBS player this year — as the Roadrunners racked up a season-high 564 yards of offense. Harris caught a 23-yard touchdown pass, giving him seven total scores in the game, tied for third most in C-USA history. He also rushed for 51 yards on nine carries, setting a UTSA single-game record for total offense with 400 yards.

Harris, who appears on watch lists for the Manning and Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Awards, has thrown for 1,475 yards and 12 TDs on 127-182 passing this season and his 69.8% completion percentage stands 11th in the FBS. He improved to 14-6 as a starter with the win over the Hilltoppers and now has completed 352 of 523 passes for 3,591 yards and 27 touchdowns in 21 career games.

The Roadrunners are off to the best start in school history and are bowl eligible for the second straight season. They will host Rice (2-3, 1-0 C-USA) this Saturday, Oct. 16. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at the Alamodome and the game will air on ESPN+ and Ticket 760 AM. For tickets, call or text 210-458-UTSA (8872) or visit goUTSA.com/tickets.
